Cheese Naan

Delicious naan bread stuffed with cheese.

Preparation

In a small bowl, combine the yeast, sugar, and warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until the yeast activates and becomes frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture, yogurt, milk, and melted butter. Mix well to form a soft dough.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.

Punch down the dough to release the air. Divide it into 4 equal portions.

Take one portion and roll it into a small circle. Place a portion of the shredded mozzarella cheese and chopped cilantro in the center. Fold the edges towards the center and seal it to form a ball. Flatten the ball slightly using your palm.

Sprinkle some garlic powder and nigella seeds (optional) on top of the flattened dough. Repeat the same process for the remaining portions.

Heat a tawa or skillet over medium heat. Place the stuffed naan on the hot tawa and cook for about 2-3 minutes until bubbles appear on the surface. Flip it over and cook for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown spots appear.

Remove the cheese naan from the tawa and brush it with some melted butter. Repeat the same process for the remaining naan.

Serve the cheese naan hot with your favorite curry or chutney.
