Plain roti
A simple and staple Indian flatbread made with wheat flour.

Preparation

In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt.

Slowly add water and knead the dough until it comes together and is smooth.

Cover the dough and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.

Divide the dough into equal-sized balls.

Take a dough ball and dust it with some flour.

Roll it into a thin, circular shape, about 8-10 inches in diameter.

Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat.

Place the rolled roti on the tawa and cook it for a few seconds until bubbles start to appear.

Flip the roti and cook the other side for a few more seconds.

Remove the roti from the tawa and place it on a plate.

Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.

Serve hot with your favorite curry or dish.
